Supporting USS Colorado (SSN 788) Commissioning and Crew
Welcome to USS Colorado (SSN-788) Commissioning Committee web site. USS Colorado (SSN-788) is the 15th Virginia Class submarine. She was delivered to the Navy on September 21, 2017. Having completed shakedown operations, she was commissioned on March 17, 2018 at Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, CT. The Committee's purposes are to promote awareness within the state, provide support for the crew, and to help organize and raise money for the events surrounding commissioning.
Committee Members Rick Martin, Steve Kelly and JJ Mackin visited members of Senator Bennet’s Staff on February 19th as part of the Navy League’s grassroots Legislative Affairs Initiative. After discussing the larger Navy issues, Committee Chair JJ Mackin provided an update on USS Colorado (SSN 788). Policy Director Becca Montgomery and Constituent Advocate Alisha Andrews listened with interest and asked that they be kept informed of future events that the Senator may be able to attend.
On January 29th Military Appreciation Day was celebrated at the State Capitol. USS Colorado was honored in Joint Resolution 1005 sponsored by Representatives Humphrey and Williams. Several Committee members came out to support. We thank them and the the legislators for their recognition of USS Colorado!
